Emails from us
We only send marketing emails if you've asked for them. Every email has a link to unsubscribe, and unsubscribing from one list doesn't stop emails you still need, such as about a call you've booked.
Who helps us run things
We use a small number of trusted services to run the website and send emails. They handle your details to provide their service to us, under their own terms, which we link to.
- Cloudflare (website, forms and storage)
- Resend (sending emails)
- Zoom (video calls, if you book one)
- Stripe (card payments, if you become a customer)
Some of these companies are based in the United States or store information there. Cloudflare, Resend and Stripe each state that they are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension. Zoom sets out its own safeguards for transfers in its data protection terms. We link to each company's own pages so you can read them.
Your clients' information
It lives in your own accounts, not ours. Because we keep access to your hosting and email accounts to look after them, we can see your clients' details. We only look when we need to, to set up, fix or support your system, and you can remove our access at any time. See Your data.
How long we keep things
- Early sign-up and checklist details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or two years after our last contact with you, whichever comes first.
- Enquiries and chat bookings that don't lead to work: two years.
- Order requests (the form you fill in when you press "Request your place"): your package choice, craft, extras, name, business name, email address, phone number if you give one, domain details, how you would like to pay and anything you add. We use it to prepare your order form and reply. If you go ahead it becomes part of your customer record; if you do not, we delete it after twelve months. Nothing is charged until you choose to pay the deposit. If you do, your card details go straight to Stripe, which processes the payment; we never see them, and we keep the order record and receipt.
- Free previews: we use only the pages you point us to. Your preview is private: only we and anyone you share the link with can see it, and it is kept out of search engines. If you go ahead, it becomes part of your customer record. If you don't, we delete the preview and your request 30 days after we send you the preview. If you tick the box for follow-up emails, we schedule three short emails about your preview with our email provider when you ask, and cancel any still to come if you unsubscribe.
- Tools typed into the compare calculator's "something else" box: we keep the tool name you typed, which part of your business it is for, the craft you chose and the date, and nothing that identifies you (no name, email address, IP address or cookie). We use the counts to keep the comparison accurate and do not share them.
- Feature requests and "tell me when it is ready" details: for twelve months after the feature is built or we decide not to build it, then deleted. We do not publish, quote or share them.
- What you tell us about a craft we do not list: until you ask us to delete it, or two years after our last contact with you, whichever comes first.
- If you ask us to tell you when your craft is ready, we keep your name, email and craft for up to twelve months or until we have sent you that one email, and we never add it to a mailing list.
- Customer records: for as long as you're a customer, then six years, because we have to keep business and tax records.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete your details;

- give you your details in a form you can take elsewhere.
You can also object to how we use your details, and withdraw your consent at any time. Just email [email protected]. We'll reply within a month.

We do not set cookies of our own. Our hosting and bot-check services may set the cookies strictly needed to keep the site working and secure. Our visit counts store only an event name and a monthly total, with no cookie, no address and no browser details. The quiz and the calculator work in your browser.
